Without joking, tell me seriously, when you first thought of a classy woman, what came to your mind? A woman in a sleek black dress? With bold red lipstick and heels? Someone who is sitting with her legs crossed at her ankles? Someone who smells like a million bucks? Well, you are right, but not fully.
When I was in my twenties, I figured out a lot because I didn’t want to dress up like a fully colourful ball for my college. And why would I?
At first I thought I needed a lot of budget for it, but I didn’t have any earning source, so I couldn’t spend this much to buy classy clothes, jewelery and heels.
In all these things, exploring too much online, searching and taking inspos, I see that most who are looking classy are wearing so much less, like no expensive overstylish clothes. They are wearing minimal but looking chic at the same time.
Trust me, that thought in my mind, if I wear this, I will be looking like a homeless person lol, but why is there such a huge gap?
Let’s figure it out in today’s blog. I came up with incredible details to look classy without spending too much money and zero fluff, I swear, they are gonna make your college life so much easier.
Ready to move on to so much good stuff? You will genuinely like it, I bet.
Alright, Let’s Talk About How To Look Classy On A Budget
1. Fit Is Everything
Okay, I’m going to hop up on the most important information ever, I mean, the most. It’s the fit babe, haha. I remember buying clothes that looked so damn nice in the store without figuring out that it would fit me or not.
And then by the time I bring it home and try, it gives me so much off feeling. And then anyway, I have to wear it because I didn’t have that much money left. It’s not even funny anymore!
And you know why this happened? Because it didn’t fit me nicely. I’m not kidding when I say fit is everything. I genuinely believed it with my whole heart (only because I have suffered), and I will argue with anyone who disagrees, lol.
A well fitted T-shirt even it is of $10 will always beat the bad fitted $100 T-shirt. Sad but true!
Oh, and can I tell you my favourite secret? Tailors!!! Go find yourself a good tailor now, because they are just lifesavers. Understand it, you pick something from a sale because who will spend $$$ on Zara and hm? Hand over that piece to your tailor and let them do the magic.
2. Your Posture Is Your Best Outfit
I bet you now you are sitting in a hunched back, I know, I know! I can relate. But that position is looking so bad on you. Okay, answer me a question. Ever seen a classiest person you know, sitting with a low posture? I think so, no, that’s great actually.
I’m sure that’s not good to see. Your posture actually says a lot about you. I’m serious, yaa. I started working consciously on my posture and the difference is just not ignorable.
Standing and sitting up straight can make a huge difference in how you look and carry yourself. A good posture instantly gives off a more confident and polished vibe.
3. Clean Nails Say A Lot
Okay don’t even get me started on this one because I feel SO strongly about it and I don’t think people realise how much their nails are communicating on their behalf at all times!!!
Your nails are literally visible all the time, babe. People notice a lot, trust me on this. Okay, you don’t need a professional manicure every single week to have good looking nails. You really don’t!
You can easily do a manicure at home, it’s so easy. Trim your nails, cute you cuticles and file them into a good shape (if you have long nails), then apply a clean polish. And top it off with a top coat and here you go.
This 12 pc nail paint set from Amazon has all nude colour which looks chic because it has all kinds of nude colours. Also it has a base coat and top coat, so you won’t have to invest exceptionally in it. Great?
4. Three Basics Worth Every Penny
Okay so I’m a huge fan of buying budget and buying smart but there are a few things that are genuinely worth spending a little more on and knowing which things those are is honestly half the battle!!!
A good white shirt is the first one. You must invest in a good crisp white shirt, who doesn’t need a basic t-shirt? And that looks so classy, even I wear it in my college a lot.
A well made pair of dark jeans is the second one. Dark jeans are endlessly versatile and a good pair will outlast five cheap ones easily, I promise you that!
And a quality everyday bag is the third. Invest in a good structured bag that goes with almost every outfit. I try to opt for dark colours like black, brown, tan rather than cool colours.
Save up for these three things specifically and let everything else be as budget-friendly as you want. These three are the anchor pieces that make your whole wardrobe look way more expensive than it actually is!!!
5. Add A Blazer To Everything
A blazer can change your look in a matter of some seconds, seriously, they have so much potential to make you look like expensive af. Even if you’re wearing just a basic white tee with a pair of jeans, grab your blazer (literally any colour). At the end of the day, you’ll return with so many compliments, I promise.
And don’t tell me you can’t afford a good blazer because you don’t need an expensive one. Find anyone which is fits you well.
6. Smell Like You Mean It
Smelling good is oh-so important. It doesn’t relate to perfumes only, but hygiene also, take priority over your body hygiene. Start your day with a good bath and then pick a perfume, yes, your signature scent.
Don’t tell me you don’t have a signature scent! Go find yours now, because it is way too important. Don’t smell random always, keep the smell that authenticates you, and it is only possible if you find yourself a good signature scent.
There is a lot of difference between who smells like sweat and who smells damn good. People generally love a great smell and want to connect to them only. Idk, it’s just natural, lol!

7. How You Eat In Public Matters
This one has my heart because no one really talks about this, as they think this is so common and basic etiquette. But it has a very direct link with how you look classy in real life.
I had a great habit of scrolling while eating for a long time, whether I’m in public or at home. At first, I would think who’ll notice me, but no, I was wrong. People usually notice a lot (I’m not judging you, as this is me for a long time), and this habit puts you in a very bad impression, and it’s kind of embarrassing.
Keep an eye on your eating habits, especially when you’re around people, And don’t scroll while you eat, don’t chew making noises, be present and enjoy your meal to the fullest. Maybe these habits seem so small to you, but they have a major impact on how to look classy.
8. Wrinkled Clothes Are A No
I cannot tell you how many people walk around in wrinkled clothes that would have looked absolutely amazing if they had just been ironed or steamed, and seeing it breaks my heart every single time!!!
If you don’t own an iron or a steamer, what are you even doing with your life, lol??? Get one. It’s not expensive and it will be one of the best things you ever bought for your appearance. This one is completely non negotiable for me and I really think it should be for you too!!!
I know, sometimes we are in so much rush or maybe a little too lazy to iron, even if it takes just 5 minutes! 5 minutes lol! Haven’t you got any empathy?
9. Brows And Lips Tell Everything
These three things are the most important for your beauty, especially if you are a girl (you know what I mean). A full face of makeup may be interesting, but not something that looks classy. Not even a bit.
First, talk about brows. Your brows frame your entire face, so keeping them groomed and shaped makes such a visible difference in your face. If I have to talk about the growth serum for your lashes, because at the end who won’t need healthy, thick brows? Castor oil is your best friend. Tried and tested, trust me on this one!!!
Secondly, keep your lips soft and supple. I have a lot of dry skin, and all the time, no matter the time of year, my lips look dry and chapped, which doesn’t look presentable. Scrub them, use a good lip balm or maybe a good lip routine, yes babe.

10. Your Skin Is Everything
If you don’t do this step already, what are you even doing with your life??? I’m sorry, but I had to say it, lol! Even though I strongly believe that every kind of skin is pretty, but at the same time, caring for your skin and striving for healthy, fresh skin is not a crime at all.
I cannot stress even you have to get yourself a good skincare routine. I know, I know it can be overwhemling especially if you chase 2747849 million products for your face. Ohh, we are talking about the budget here. Okay, let’s build a budget skincare routine.
Start with a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer, and end it with sunscreen. Even these 3 steps are more than enough for glowing healthy skin. Although if you want to add one active ingredient in your routine, you can, but after figuring out what’s good for your skin condition.
11. Shoes Speak Before You Do
Footwears are actually seen as something which tells the class of person and it really does. Imagine someone with a whole dirty, gunky boot sitting next to you? Eww, that thought is ruining my mood.
Lol, that doesn’t mean you need ten pairs, one different for daily. You really not! You may need 3-4 good ones that cover almost every situation or outfit. Let me do the heavy lifting for you so you don’t have to use your mind.
First you need a clean pair of white sneakers (because why not? They literally go with anything casual). Second, a good pair of nude heels (goes with any dress or even formals), Next you need loafers for any fancy moments, the rest all figure by your choices.
And please, please, please keep them clean because if you not they will look so dirty and unhygienic. Wipe your sneakers down after wearing them. Polish your leather shoes and flaunt them.
12. Your Hair Is Always Talking
Get your hair out of your way. Oh, wait no, I mean, your hair is one big problem when you are struggling to look classy. I wish I could keep my blow-dried hair as it is for weeks, but I know we all cannot.
Okay, so what to do? I mean, there is only one way to get out of it, to chase healthy hair, and that is only possible if we take care of it in the right way.
First, figure out the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair that cleans your hair without stripping natural oils from it. Mask is ohh-so important, don’t ever miss it. Applying a good non-sticky hair serum afterwards is all you need.
Knowing what your hair wants is the best thing you can do for your hair. Also
13. Thrift Like A Pro
Okay can we please talk about thrift shopping for a second because it is one of the best kept secrets for looking expensive without spending much and I need more people to know this!!!
Now you won’t believe I’ve found an absolute gem of a purchase from a thrift store that people think is too costly, but only I know the truth. By the way, you’ll know it too now. Don’t tell anybody pls!
Thrift stores are full of amazing pieces, so you only have to find out your perfect piece that’s heavy lifting, but it’s all worth it for the look.
Thrifting will be your saviour for your pockets if you are saving some bucks and surviving your life expensively.
So that’s everything! These things that will actually make you look classy without spending a fortune. Try even five of these and I promise you’ll notice a difference. And when that happens, come back and tell me about it because I genuinely want to know! You’ve got this babe!!!
