I know SHOPPING FOR COLLEGE CAN BE HARD, a little more hard if you are a girl because we cannot survive on just shorts and a tee.
There are a lot of things to remind and there is a very high chance you might skip the most important things to pack, so I dedicate myself to a list that I genuinely rely on most and if you also want to look like you’re living your best life, then this gig is definitely for you.
Seriously, too much is happening when you start college. I ran to the market every single day buying new clothes and shoes, but does college life just need new outfits every day? Maybe but I still believe that a good outfit can make your day 10x better (who doesn’t?), but there are a lot more things also which we are going to discuss in today’s blog.
I always wanted to be the girl who gained all the attention on campus. It kind of works if we focus on ourselves, our habits and some things we carry with us that make us feel like we have our life together so that you can chill it out and fake some life that you have. Uhmm okay.
So here it is, all the things that you need to make your college life effortless, chilling all the time and living the best because studying is hard, you should not be.
After reading this, make sure to add these things to our list to buy. Sorry if it breaks your budget, I can’t help (And yes, I apologize to your wallet in advance).
The Everyday Essentials Of Girls Who Have Their Life Together
1. Carry A Tote Bag
First things first, you need a good quality tote bag because can we just admire how a good tote bag instantly elevates a college look?
I used to carry a backpack sort of bag because it made my hands free and also lightened the weight I had put on my shoulders. But it doesn’t have the same charm that a tote bag adds.
Finding a good tote bag is also a task because it should not be like tearing up after some use. Invest a good amount to buy a good quality bag because a cheap one looks boring and doesn’t seem to be noticed, but a good bag brings you compliments and that’s where I sold.
Last but not least it should be spacious and find the colour which goes with every outfit, don’t pick up too flashy and outdated colours that will leave you bored after a while of use.
So if you don’t already own a good tote bag, let this be your sign to get one. Trust me, your shoulders (and your college self) will thank you.
2. Put On Glasses
I really don’t think people who don’t wear glasses fully understand the level of panic that comes when you forget them. For me, it is horrible because I can’t spend the entire lecture squinting at the screen like there is some hardcore script written. I really CAN’T.
There are certain things that instantly change the whole vibe of you and glasses are definitely one of them, I bet. I still don’t know what magic they had but the moment I put on a chic pair of glasses it made me look more organised and productive, it doesn’t matter if I had even completed my assignments or not. Who cares? I do, yes.
Even if you use contect lens, I still think keeping glasses in your bag is the smartest thing you can do.
I keep mine in a hard case inside my bag so it won’t get damaged. I would say they have earned a permanent place in the bag because they look SO damn smart.
3. Power Bank Or Charger
There are two types of college students in this whole world, the ones who carry a charger everywhere literally as it is a part of their soul and the ones who learned this the hard way, at least they learn. I’m unfortunately in the second one.
I know we all have had horrible experiences of seeing a phone’s battery drop to 2% and you are still hours away from home and it is no less than an attack.
That’s why carrying a charger or a power bank is the best bet you can do, so you can roam freely without a bit of anxiety on your face and you can enjoy every moment.
4. Always Carry Water Bottle Or Tumblers
Can we all collectively agree that college students have a very toxic relationship with water? Because million times I had spend on overpriced drinks than actually taking the benefits from plain water.
The thing triggering this is that I never carry a water bottle to my college and you can also agree because half of the college students are doing the same.
Do you know how important it is for us to stay hydrated? I think I have to tell you some benefits of drinking water so you can take one from your home rather than buying and overspending on the drinks, after all we’re students on a tight budget.
And to be honest, we are in the middle of 2026, where water bottles and tumblers are the fashion accessories for girls and carrying one feels like you take care of your health and makes you look productive even if you are not.
5. Keep A Comb In Your Bag
Does your hair also start behaving their own the moment you step out of your home? That’s the worst kind of betrayal we aren’t prepared for. I think I’m not the only one. Is it?
Ever since this happened to me a million times and this is the reason I’m not able to attend my first lecture (my teacher would beat me if she read this).
But leave this aside because I’ve started carrying a mini comb everywhere and it is the best thing in my bag because now I don’t have to yell at my friends when they say picture time!
6. Carry A Mini Perfume
If my tote bag caught fire like ever, this is the one product you could see me approaching to get out of it because apparently, my lip balm can wait, but smelling good? Absolutely not.
I have a very strong opinion on this that every college girl needs a mini perfume in her bag. Because people are not sweet, they might judge you if you don’t smell like vanilla cupcakes 24/7. Seriously.
Let’s just say this loud, your morning perfume wasn’t expecting to survive the whole day and this is why mini perfume comes in handy and I love to carry it. You don’t have to carry full size. I either buy the mini version or fill a small travel atomizer with my favourite fragrance.
7. Carry A Lip Balm Or A Gloss
Don’t tell me that you are not carrying a lip balm to your college yet? Please don’t because how are you even surviving? Because I hate the feeling of dry lips and lip balm is the best survival for every girl to deal with this.
And what’s better than a thing that make you lips juicy, plumpy and better in just one swipe?
And if you want a little magic to happen, then carry a tinted one, it’s even better. It is also one of my best lazy girl hacks because it is the most loved product by every girl there. You get the colour, you get the hydration, your lips look happy and healthy, what do you even want?
8. Carry A Compact Mirror
Can we normalize carrying a compact mirror to college? Because I genuinely believe with my whole heart that I do not look like the person I was just a few hours ago at home.
And for that, I need a mirror in my bag 24/7 to get quick checks on me because I want to look presentable all the time in college and that’s not a bad thing.
9. Carry A Hand Sanitiser
I don’t know why, but I always end up wanting to eat something at the exact moment my hands feel the least clean because college has a great way of making us touch things approximately hundreds of times a day.
And there are a million moments when I need to eat something and there is no sink nearby and at that moment a little bottle of sanitiser feels like a survival and it makes life way easier.
10. A Sanitary Napkin
If you are a girl, then carrying a sanitary napkin is not like an option to you because pretty lady your periods have a great habit to annoy you at your precious moment and it doesn’t really care where you are.
And then if by chance you don’t have a sanitary napkin with you, by god the panic. I don’t want to trigger that situation for me like ever. That’s why I keep a couple of sanitary napkins in my bag so I could atleast avoid one problem in my life.
Because life is full of problems, at least I could handle one of them, it’s upon me. Don’t piss me off, I don’t have a boyfriend who will give me chocolates during those days of the month.
11. Sunscreen
Tell me who is stepping out of the house without applying sunscreen knowing the hottest weather temperatures? I said tell me, I do yes. But chill, forget it all because I carry sunscreen in my bag all the time so that my skin won’t have to suffer.
Sunscreen protects your skin from tanning, dark spots, sunburns and whatever else. So make priority of applying sunscreen regularly on your face and also body if it is uncovered.
Taking care of our skin is an important part because when you feel good in your skin, you feel 10x more confident, and that’s all sorted.
12. Pain Relief Balm
Tell me why college comes with free body pain and exhaustion? Because the tiredness and body pain hit me so hard in college, as I had come from a marathon. Tell me is it only me? Or you also experience it.
My neck remains stiff and my legs refuse to climb one more floor. And I REALLY can’t deal with this kind of struggle so I started carrying a pain relief balm in my bag because college already drains enough energy, I don’t need my body to get extra problems on top of it.
And it is actually a game changer. It gives me relief from any pain in any part of my body and I actually survive a long day in college just because of this.
13. Wet Wipes
I swear I always end up in situations where something spills or smudges at the worst possible time, maybe I’m too chiotic. But it is so normal for me to spill what I eat on my clothes at least 1 time a day or my makeup goes on wheels like it doesn’t belong to me.
And then wet wipes come to do a favour and it is actually a good usable product and should be in every girl’s bag.
Whenever something spills, I get wet wipes out of the bag and remove it as soon as possible so it won’t leave a stain on my clothes and it goes hand in hand like an easy survival for girls like me.
14. A Diary
I’m not really a diary person, which is funny because I have approximately a million thoughts running through my head at all times and they are actually too many for my small brain whether it is what to do today or it is just a random thought come to my mind but they actually feel productive.
That’s why I recently started carrying a diary in my bag.
Because now, I just got a place where I can quickly write down things before they disappear from my brain forever.
And honestly, I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. There’s something so satisfying about getting your thoughts out of your head and onto paper. It makes me a bit more clear and less all over the place.
And it is far the best thing and my favorite thing to carry in my bag and I love it.
15. A Claw Clip
I refuse to believe there are girls out there who go through an entire college day without tying their hair up even once. Because me? I reach a point where I can spend the whole day with my hair tied up.
I am just done with my hairs and a claw clip helps me get out of it because it makes everything so easy to twist my hair into a bun and secure it in seconds.
I genuinely think claw clips deserve way more appreciation because they save me from so many unnecessary little annoyances throughout the day and they also look stylish on hair like so effortlessly.
16. Gum
A pack of gum is another one because I genuinely think every friend group has that one person who always asks for gum and if you’re carrying a pack, congratulations, you’ve just become everyone’s favorite person for the next five minutes.
It also instantly makes you feel fresher which we need to survive a long college day.
17. A Novel
There are so many little pockets of time in college that I wonder how to spend them. Instead of endlessly scrolling on my phone (which probably gives me a headache), I love pulling out a novel and reading a few pages. It somehow makes the day feel a little slower and a lot more peaceful.
You definitely don’t need to carry a huge book that feels like a workout every time you pick it up. A small novel is more than enough to keep you company during those random free moments throughout the day.
18. Earphones
I never understood how people leave their house without earphones like I can’t even imagine my day without them. Earphones also give you privacy as you can watch any video, listen to any song without thinking people are judging you for your choices.
It is actually good when you need a tiny break from all the noise and chaos around.
19. Wallet
I know we live in a world of online payments but a physical wallet is a must to carry for a college student because you never know when you need it.
My dad never allows me to go out without my wallet.
And if I carry cash in my tote bag, then there is a worst scenario because there will be cash roaming here and there and I’m digging inside my bag to find one. Wallet cancels out all this as every bit of your cash stays in one place which eventually makes life so easier.
